How do I get started?

Click on the Send Files link, and fill in the registration form. When submitting your registration, you are asked to agree to our billing terms. We will then create a client site for you with a unique User I.D. and password, and where applicable, provide you with the toll-free dial-in dictation. Please allow 24 hours for setup, but if you have an immediate need for transcription services, you can use E-Typist Express to expedite jobs you need typed today.

What about security and confidentiality?

We are partnered with ChartNet Technologies™, a medical transcription application service provider (TASP) that has been adapted for our legal transcription needs. Typists work within the ChartNet™ host system, which routes your work to our typists through the Internet after being encrypted with a 128-bit encryption. The typists then transcribe jobs utilizing our Voice Reader and word processing software, and then save and return them to the ChartNet™ server for review, delivery and archiving. With ChartNet™, your voice and document files are never stored on the typist's home computer or laptop.

How do you send my transcribed documents back to me?

We will email them to you, but if you prefer, you can access them from our secureWeb Portal, where they are stored for six months. Backup copies of your emailed documents are also stored on the web portal.

How much does it cost?

Pricing is listed on our Pricing page /b>

I haven't registered yet, but I have an emergency. How can I expedite it?

Need it yesterday? Bypass registration and get started right away. Go to the Send Files page and choose the E-Typist Express . Upload your voice file in DSS, WMA or MP3 format, fill in your contact information and send your file directly to our secure server. We will contact you promptly to discuss turnaround time and billing options and then route your job to a qualified transcriptionist. You may be asked to provide a credit card for payment.

Can I use my iPhone to send you dictation?

Yes. Dictate directly into your Apple iPhone, then securely email your dictation to us and we will upload it to our server. You can also send them to our FTP site. We recommend Dictamus - available at the iPhone App Store - to record up to 90 minutes of dictation in .wav format and send compressed versions of your dictation for quick file transfer.

How about my Smart Phone or Blackberry?

Yes. Email your dictations to us and we will upload them to the server.

Can I use the toll free number to dictate from my cell phone?

You can dictate from any cell phone, home or office phone. And of course, as with any cell phone call, be sure to call from an area with a good connection so your call does not "cut out" or get dropped!

My digital voice recorder lets me send voice files directly to an FTP site. Do you offer this option?

Yes. Our Voice Reader software can transfer your files directly from your handheld recorder or docking station to our work queue. Send an email to >admin@e-typist.com >to have this feature installed.

Can I just email my audio files to you?

Yes. We will then upload them to the server for you.

Do you store backups of files I record using the telephone dictation option?

These files are kept in our system for at least six months in the Web Portal> before being deleted.

Can I send you forms I have created along with my digital files?

Yes. Email your forms with boilerplate language, and we will fill in the blanks to create a final draft document.

Can you store my templates for use when I request them?

Yes. We will create templates in your E-Typist client site when requested. Email these to admin@e-typist.com. Once added to your client site, you can instruct the typist at the beginning of your dictation which template to use. To change your templates at any time, email us the updates and we will make the changes.

Can you type my letters onto my firm's letterhead?

Yes. Send us your letterhead template and we will use it whenever your dictation instructs us to do so. You can add your signature block to your template, too. The word count in your letterhead template will be added to the total word count of your document for billing purposes.

Where do you outsource your transcription services?

All of our transcription work is done in the United States by typists with law office experience qualified in legal transcription, which ensures a quality product for our clients, every time.

Do you work on the weekends?

Yes. We're available 24/7, 365 days a year. 24 hour turnaround applies.

What if I send you work on Friday? Will I get it back on Saturday?

Most of our clients are happy with Monday delivery, but if you send us an email stating you need it before Monday morning we'll make sure you have it when you need it.

How do you send back my finished transcriptions?

We offer two options. We can email your documents to you directly or you can access them through our web portal .

Is there a minimum charge for your transcription service?

No minimum, and no registration or enrollment fees. Visit our Pricing pagefor more information

How do you bill for your transcription service?

All work is invoiced monthly on the 1st day of the month for work performed the previous month. A detailed statement with job numbers and corresponding word count will be provided. Terms are Net 15 and timely payment is required to keep your account active. Payment by check is preferred.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes. You will have the option to pay by credit card, debit card, or personal check for transcription services rendered.

Can you transcribe cassette tapes, CDs and DVDs?

Yes. You can send them via U.S. mail to our address in Stow, Ohio. We will send the finished documents via email and return your tapes in the mail. We also offer local courier service to Cleveland, Canton and Youngstown, and Akron, Ohio.

Is digital recording really better than analog tapes?

Yes! Digital recordings are clearer than analog audio tapes and can be easily duplicated. When you send us your dictation through our servers, you always have a backup to keep for yourself. Analog tapes get lost, wear out and break, too.

How is the work formatted?

If you provide your specifications, we will create a template for the format and font size and style you prefer. Otherwise, we will use 1" margins, Times New Roman 12, double space pleadings, single space all other documents

Can you print my documents for me?

No. We are paperless! The printing is left up to you and your staff.

Can I fax or scan and email my handwritten and "cut-and-paste" drafts to be typed in final form?

Yes. Fax your documents to 330 208 0487. Email your scanned documents to admin@e-typist.com. Check our pricing page for this service.

Where are your offices located?

Our main office is in Stow, Ohio, situated between Akron and Cleveland, Ohio. Our transcriptionists work from their homes, some in the Akron Cleveland area, and all in the United States.
